Ghost was written for Eurythmia Quartet, assembled in 2018 to perform and record Olivier Messiaen's epic Quatuor de la fin du Temps.  Messiaen wrote this for he and his fellow inmates when prisoners of war during WWII. 
 
My piece is written in memory of and in honor of Olivier Messiaen. I used three of the techniques associated with his work: symmetrical modes, integral serialism, and ciphers to generate tonal material.  The melody in the first section spells out "EURYTHMIA".  The melody in the second sectin spells out "MESSIAEN".
 
I'm happy to say that while heavily under the influence of Messiaen's ghost, this piece still sounds like me.
